Speed, Timing & Accuracy
The 1st step to agility
Jumper, there would not have obstacle to slow the flow of the course (eg weave or contact obstacles). It is purely jumps and tunnels that allows the dog & handler to show off lighting speed & almost telepathic teamwork.
The typical jumper course is a very twisty & there is seldom a straight line through two jumps. The course often loops back onto itself & creates a pattern so complex that many handlers find it difficult to remember the course. The tunnel usually serve as a sling shot to propel the dog back into the middle of the maze of jumps.
Jumper is one of the most exciting events to watch because of the SPEED & TEAMWORK display between the dog & handLer. It is also one of the more exciting courses to run because it usually flows very naturally – so much so that if you can keep from getting lost, the handling just takes care of itself.
